Don
Milani
Our school is dedicated
to Don Milani, a priest very sympathetic to the problems of the children. |
At the end of the
Second World War a lot of boys worked in the industries or in the fields. The school was
very far from the students life and the teachers were often too strict. |
Don Milani
arrived in a very small village, Barbiana, at the top of a mountain. |
He gathered a handful of children and formed an
educational system that was started from the students’ needs and interests. |
So the young
people were in Don Milani’s school because they wanted to be there, and not
because their parents had forced them. |
The motto in this school was “I care” |
