Don Milani

Our school is dedicated to Don Milani, a priest very sympathetic to the problems of the children.

At the end of the Second World War a lot of boys worked in the industries or in the fields.

The school was very far from the students life and the teachers were often too strict.

Don Milani arrived in a very small village, Barbiana, at the top of a mountain.

He gathered a handful of children and formed an educational system that was started from the students’ needs and interests.

So the young people were in Don Milani’s school because they wanted to be there, and not because their parents had forced them.

The motto in this school was “I care”
